In 2019, the British newspaper The Guardian named Let me tell you by Danish composer Hans Abrahamsen as "the most important work of the 21st century." Sung by soprano Ilse Eerens, this musical scene after Shakespeare takes us into breathtaking icy landscapes. The orchestration is sumptuous, and the vocal line unfolds a passionate romanticism. The same masterful effects can be found in Grieg’s Suite No. 1 from Peer Gynt, which includes some of the most famous passages in the repertoire. Finnish conductor Emilia Hoving also presents two masterpieces by Sibelius, including Symphony No. 6, where the orchestra sparkles like the northern lights.
