Charles Arendt (1825–1910): State Architect
Charles Arendt (1825–1910) is one of the most notable architects of the 19th century in Luxembourg. As the first State Architect, he accompanied the transformation of the Grand Duchy towards a constitutional monarchy and played a decisive role in designing its political, religious, and public buildings. Between representation and everyday life, between permanence and renewal, Arendt forged an architectural vocabulary still visible today in the urban landscape. The exhibition invites visitors to rediscover Charles Arendt as the architect of a nation in the making.
