Between Paris, New York, and Jones Beach, Maï Lucas creates a vivid archive of hip-hop, fashion, and countercultures. Her perspective, shaped by friendship, celebration, style, and belonging, captures communities in forms of visibility, pride, tenderness, and power that challenge negative representations and reveal new narratives.
Maï Lucas is known for her iconic images of the birth of hip-hop culture in France (1986–1996). She then continued her work in the streets of New York (1990–2010). Today, her work is exhibited in several museums.
